Horizon Outreach Receives $5,000 Grant for Horizon FAITH Program

Horizon Outreach recently received a $5,000 Community Relations Program Grant from the TJX Companies. This grant will support the Horizon FAITH (Families Achieving Independence Through Help) Program. This program helps military and non-military families who are in crisis to locate affordable housing, develop healthy relationship and wellness skills and to create pathways to employment as well as reduce instances of domestic violence. A total of 50 families will be served by the Horizon FAITH Program. That number includes serving 25 At Risk Youth Ages 16-24 and 25 Adults. The overall impact of the program will be to increase the well-being of the family. Horizon Outreach President & CEO, Katrina R. Johnson was on site at the Grand Opening of a local Marshall’s Store to receive the check along with Board Member Melvin Dew (Retired U.S. Army Veteran) & Celeste Hendrickson (Horizon Outreach Accountant). Corporate Executives from the TJX Companies were onsite as well to present the check along with the local store managers. President & CEO, Katrina Johnson shared her testimony on how she founded Horizon Outreach and expressed her thanks for receiving the grant to provide further services to families in crisis and to reduce homelessness. Assistant Manager, Courtney Martin indicated that she was impressed by the work Horizon Outreach does in the community to serve families in need and those who are homeless.

Horizon Outreach was founded in 2010, since that time, Horizon Outreach has connected over 3,500 families to resources and services. Of that number 1,700 were military families (938 children impacted indirectly by the services). The organization is a staple in the veteran and homeless community as well and is actively engaged in the Annual Homeless Counts and other initiatives to help families in crisis.

Furthermore, Horizon Outreach is a national leader and practitioner the field of fatherhood. The organization provides evidenced-based curriculum that leads to sustainable outcomes for the families served. This announcement comes on the heels of Horizon Outreach’s expansion of the Horizon Eagle Fatherhood Program to serve fathers who are ex-offenders & teen parents in conjunction with serving military fathers.

This program has been a game changer for over 1,200 fathers by allowing them to be build nurturing parenting skills as well as key job certifications to create career pathways to employment.
